Product Description
The Perfect Pushup puts a new spin on one of the oldest exercises, the pushup. Invented by someone who knows a lot about pushups, former U.S. Navy SEAL, Alden Mills, the Perfect Pushup's rotating handles allow your arms to rotate naturally when you do pushups the same way they do when you throw a punch or press up a dumb bell. This unique feature accelerates results by engaging more muscles in the arms, chest, shoulders, and back. It also helps reduce strain on wrists and elbows, and helps to stabilize and strengthen the shoulder joint by engaging the scapular and rotator cuff muscles. You will notice the comfort and effectiveness of the Perfect Pushup on the very first try! Includes free instructional DVD and full color poster that show perfect form along with a customizable 21 day workout planner based in SEAL 2 minute drills that works for any fitness level - from beginner through Olympic athlete.

Amazon.com Product Description
Developed by a US Navy SEAL and as seen on TV, the Original Perfect Pushup uses the latest in biomechanics and engineering to achieve better results from pushup workouts. The units have comfortable rubberized grips, stable 8" bases with a gripping rubber finish, and a steel ball bearing rotational system. Smooth-rotating handles accelerate results by engaging more muscles in the arms, chest, shoulders, and back, while also reducing strain on wrists and elbows and stabilizing the shoulder joint.

The Original Perfect Pushup works for any fitness level, and the included SEAL-inspired exercise chart demonstrates proper form and includes a customizable 21-day workout planner based on SEAL "two minute drills." The kit includes two patent-pending pushup handles, and instructional DVD, and the instructional poster.

About Perfect Fitness
The training principles and innovations behind the Perfect Pushup originated with Alden Mills, a seven year veteran of the US Navy SEALs. While serving as platoon commander, Alden's platoon was chosen for a study to determine why SEALs suffered unusually high injury rates. After learning the injuries were linked to age-old training methods, SEAL trainers switched to Functional Training. Alden learned firsthand how to incorporate these lessons into exercise routines that have become the foundation of techniques used at Perfect Fitness.

5 out of 5 stars Make Your Pushups More Effective and Easier on Your Wrists   July 25, 2010
HTBK (San Francisco, CA USA)
We bought two sets of these for use with P90X Extreme Home Fitness Workout Program - 13 DVDs, Nutrition Guide, Exercise Planner. They were a great choice.

Pushup stands in general are good for two main reasons - they increase your range of movement, which gives you a better workout per pushup, and they make the move easier on your wrists.

These pushup stands are far better than any competitive products we looked at.
- More affordable here on Amazon than some of the crazy stands out there, like the Power Stands Beach Body pushes for use with P90X.
- More durable than the competitive products you'll see at this price point, most of which feel like some plastic piping slapped together with a flimsy cushioned grip.
- The swiveling action of the grip takes a bit of getting used to, but makes pushups even easier on the wrists once you get the hang of it. My wife has some wrist issues and was having a really tough time with pushups before we bought these - since we bought them, she's had no issues.

2 out of 5 stars be careful--can mess up your shoulders   July 20, 2010
B. Dain (Salt Lake City, UT)
I wanted something for high-rep upper body work, so I picked these up. They're perfectly fine for just doing some pushups, but if you get more intense and follow the advanced programs, they can really mess up your rotator cuffs if you have any weakness there (and most of us do). There are much safer exercises to get the same effects. So again, if you just want a good way to do some pushups without straining your arms and wrists, these things are fine. But don't go hardcore with them or you will regret it.

5 out of 5 stars excellent tool for fitness   July 17, 2010
Sean Leugers
I posted a review under the travel version of the perfect pushup. Take a look at that because the biggest difference is transportability, which mattered a lot to me. The travel breaks down to a very small size - a great feature if you plan on taking them somewhere or if you're a martial artist and want to do knuckle pushups. This is what I wrote for the mobile unit and I have both so I'm writing in terms of both the mobile and original:

The perfect pushup is a great tool especially if you don't have much time or space for a good upper body emphasis workout. I have been using this product for 3 years and its great especially when you're in confined quarters or have little time to get a workout in. I also think that the workout flashcards are excellent because they show you more than just a standard pushup. Its worth an extra $10.

I got the original when it first came out. It was great but a bit bulky and difficult to transport. The travel version solved this problem. I took it to Iraq in 2008 and it really great - again, confined spaces with little time for workouts. I was on the road almost every day and with all the lifting, moving, and heavy gear we wore, I needed some extra strength. I was really worried about all of the dust getting to the ball bearings, which it did but I haven't noticed any loss of performance. I used the computer spray air to clean the ball bearings a bit by spraying it into the tiny space between the rubber bottom and the plastic casing and worked around the circle. It seemed to work.

I found this most useful for really working my shoulders, chest, and triceps. The device turns easily and smoothly allowing free twisting motion of your hands. The ability to twist your hands serves 2 purposes: better toning and if you're into martial arts it forces you to practice good wrist turning technique during punching (working out and practicing technique at the same time). Since you can unhook the handles, you can also do knuckle pushups to condition the bone density of your hands. Unfortunately, after about 4 months in Iraq, I tore (full thickness) my left supraspinatus tendon (rotator cuff) and separated my shoulder while out on a mission. Bench press, military press, and incline were obviously out. I could still do the perfect pushup (light workouts obviously). Since I continued on with missions out there for 4 months in that condition, I had to be able to continue missions without a drop in performance. While discussing this with the battalion surgeon, I used the perfect pushup full time because it was the only thing I could do that wouldn't aggravate it, while I was attempting to build the muscles around the injured ones, like the surgeon advised. I was able to continue to the end of our deployment. 1 1/2 years post surgery and physical rehab, I find that bench press continually causes problems for me by reaggravating my shoulder every time I started putting on heavy weight. I have begun using the perfect pushup more instead of benchpress. I started doing that about a week ago and I haven't had the pain that I was continually having with benchpress.

In the beginning I had trouble with delivery. The owner called me personally and we talked for about 20 minutes. He is a great guy and the situation was completely resolved. Obviously the company has grown since then so I'm not sure that will happen now but it obviously shows the desire to satisfy customers. I think its a great product, don't trust the knock offs - I have seen and occasionally used some. They do the same basic motion but they're like a bootleg movie - yeah, you can see the movie but there are subtle things you don't have. I hope this helps.

4 out of 5 stars Sturdy!   July 7, 2010

Very solid construction and rotation makes pushing up less of a struggle! Easy on the wrists and they work great on carpet.

4 out of 5 stars Not PERFECT, but Pretty Darn Close   June 28, 2010
Mooseman
The Original Perfect pushup is a great way to get a decent chest workout in on days when you can't make it to the gym...in fact, as an avid gym-goer and long time weight-trainer, these gave me a more painful (in a good way) workout than I've had at the gym in a while.

Go to [...] for some good routines to go with this great product. By the way, they have a new, more ergonomically friendly (perfect) version for sale now, that I have used, and would recommend over the Original Perfect Pushup.
